Interview with winner of MDW 2008 2008-07-18 14:12

MissDeafWorld.com: Congratulation to you, Miss Deaf World! How does it feel to be crowned ?Miss Deaf World??
Rosanna Mazzocchio: Hello, thank you very much! I still cannot believe that I've won the title of Miss Deaf World 2008 and the fact is that I need to get used to the idea that it is me who actually won the competition. When they called out number 12, I was dreaming and forgot that the number 12 was mine! It was such a buzz feeling to see hundreds and hundreds of people cheering! At the same time, it was brilliant, fantastic feeling!

What was the most amazing?
The most amazing thing during the two weeks in czech were the girls! all the girls are beautiful and i got on so well with all of them. we all were helping with each other all the time! Going on the motorbike was also an amazing experience for me

Who talked you into taking part in the contest?
My family, friends and my boyfriend! They kept saying that it is once-a-life-time opportunity, which I should grab it! After a few while, I agreed with them and took the opportunity! If it wasn't for them, I won't be winning the Miss Deaf World!

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I can see where I see myself 5 weeks from now, not 5 years! I shall be relaxing and go on holiday with my family and boyfriend in 3 weeks time. As for 5 years ahead, truthfully, I have no idea just yet! I haven't really had a chance to settle and think about what I want to do in the next 5 years because alot of things been going on in the last few years! Hopefully, I would get a steady job, nice home and a nice car!

Name three things you can?t live without? Okay, make it five.
My boyfriend, family, friends, mobile phone and make-up!!

Whom do you admire most and why?
My mum is the person that I admire most because she is the greatest mum anyone could ever have. She is always there for me when things went wrong in my life and is there to make it better. No matter how bad I went through, she always stick up for me and support me throughout my life. If it wasn't for her, god knows what am I gonna be like!

What was your worst moment in your life and how did you overcome it?
The worst moment in my life is when I nearly died at the age of 13 years old after accidently broke the window glass at school and slashed both my wrists and left arm, which lost alot of blood as well as lost some of the skins. The doctor took out some of the skin from my right leg to attach the skin on my wrists, which left me some scars. The doctor said that it was a miracle that I am alive. It is the moment that I will never forget.

When did you start surfing the Internet and how often?
When I was around 10 years old, I learned how to use the computer and Internet at school and I didn't use it often until I was around teenager then I'd go on the Internet nearly every day if I can.

When you have your own website, what would you like the Website to do for you?
I don't have a webite of my own and I still would not to because I dont't want to create a website about myself as I use the facebook. The only time I would set up a website is if I set up a new business!

For girls planning to join beauty pageants, what are the important preparations that they should do in order to excel?
Before the finale, I'd advise them to go to bed early because you will need plenty of hours to sleep, do not starve yourself just to look good on the stage because of the fatigue and illness so just eat normally and plenty of healthy foods. Try not to over-rehearsal otherwise there is a chance you will forget what to do when you get tired. Just stay calm, control your nerve and be positive throughout the competition.
